How to Enable SPF for MailChimp
To set up your SPF record with MailChimp or edit your current SPF record to include MailChimp, follow the steps below:
- Visit the Domains page under Account Settings in your MailChimp account
- Click on the authenticate your domain link
- A confirmation email will be sent to a valid email address hosted at the domain you have asked to verify
- Go to your email account and open the email and click on the confirmation link to verify the domain
Now head back to the Domains page, again, in your MailChimp account.
- The verified email domain should be displayed with an Authenticate button, please click the button
- A modal will pop up and display two (2) DNS records.
- If you already have an existing SPF record for the domain you will want to copy the value include:servers.mcsv.net.
- If you do NOT have an SPF record for the domain, you will want to copy the entire value
You will now need to login to your DNS Hosting Provider so you can edit or add a SPF record. Once logged in:
- If you have an existing SPF record, follow the instructions below to update an existing SPF record with multiple mail servers.
- In your existing SPF record, you will append include:servers.mcsv.net
- For example, if your existing record looked like v=spf1; mx; ip4:1.2.3.4; you would add the above include as follows v=spf1; mx; ip4:1.2.3.4; include:mailgun.org;
- If you do not have an SPF record, Create a new TXT record with the following values:
- In the Name/Host/Alias field, enter @ or leave blank (other DNS records might indicate which one you need)
- In the Time to Live (TTL) field, enter 3600 or leave the default
- In the Value/Answer/Destination field, enter: v=spf1 include:mailgun.org ~all and Save the TXT record

- Verify your domain on the Domains page in the Account Settings section of your Mailchimp account.
- In a pop-up modal MailChimp will provide the information that is needed to be configured into the DNS
