HTTPS Certificate Check

What you see when your domain has this problem
The certificate has an issue Details area Ignore

More Information About Https Certificate Check

Your website either does not support encryption or has a configuration problem with the certificate.

Additional Information

HTTPS uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) to encrypt traffic which means that data sent to or from your website is protected from 3rd parties intercepting and reading it. The certificate is issued by a trusted authority, like GeoTrust, which gives web browsers information about your site, including the domain name, your address, phone number, etc. This allows users to be confident the site they visit is your site and not a data stealing 3rd party pretending to to be your site.

When a HTTPS monitor is added, a HTTPS Certificate Expiration will trigger when a certificate in the chain is about to expire.

Troubleshooting

  • Check to see if all the certificates in a chain are available
  • Check for an expired certificate
  • See if the requested url hostname is exactly what is on the certificate, otherwise, it will be a mismatch
  • Make sure the certificate has not been revoked or is a possible fake
  • Review the steps on setting up a certificate properly
  • If you are a paid member of MxToolbox, you can view the history and performance data of a monitor you’ve set up to pinpoint when this problem started occurring
  • One of the best ways to get help if you are a MxToolbox paid member is to create a support ticket, and one of our staff will be happy to assist you
