Your BIMI logo isn’t displaying next to your company’s name in recipients’ inboxes and won’t be shown until corrective action is taken. Unfortunately, you’ve encountered a BIMI image format issue. The error most likely lies in the formatting of the BIMI logo itself, which is found in the l tag of the BIMI record.
Thankfully, there are steps you can take to fix the problem. A basic assessment of the BIMI record’s l tag formatting code could uncover the error and allow your logo to be clearly recognized by your customer base. Or, the problem might simply be that you’re not using the approved SVG image type. SVG image files end in .svg.
BIMI Image Guidelines
Making the image compatible/viewable is the goal for the BIMI image format. Your company’s logo image needs clarity. The only way to ensure that occurs for BIMI is to use a Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) image. The SVG image must meet the following requirements, as noted in RFC 6170 Section 5.2:
-
It can’t contain any Internationalized Resource Identifier (IRI) information references outside the B, C, and D image types.
-
It can’t contain any “script” element.
-
Its XML structure must use <LF> as the end-of-line (EOL) character when calculating a hash over the image.
Note: If the referenced SVG file is in a GZIP-compressed form (SVGZ file), the extension “svgz” is utilized.
