Reverse DNS Failed, There is a problem

I have verified that our DNS provider has created a DNS entry for our domain that ties to our public IP address however I am still getting this message from MXToolbox "Reverse DNS Failed, There is a problem".  I have also noticed that some messages are not going through obviously due to the recipient domain using the "Check for Revers DNS" option within their SMTP security software.  Is there something that we need to do on our internal DNS server as well so that reverse DNS lookups will go through?

Also gettting the same error message - have tried adding the full domain name into the advance delvery option but no joy.

I am getting this also.  I checked the PTR record in the DNS and it is pointing the IP address to the domain name.  What are the causes of this error messages I can check?

Reverse DNS is pretty simple and the errors reported here are odd. Basically whatever hostname you are claiming during your HELO should match what the PTR record for that IP is.

If you feel that you are doing this and we are still throwing a reverse DNS flag on your server, please drop a line to support@mxtoolbox.com with your information and we'll be happy to look into it.

    Thanks for your feedback Peter.

Do you know of a manual to configure DNS records correctly?
