    reverse lookup record

    all-

my brother's company uses network solutions for dns and they cannot or will not setup a reverse lookup for their mail exchanger.  is there any way to accomplish this without switching to isp's dns or hosting somewhere else?

    Re: reverse lookup record

Reverse DNS records are not setup with your DNS provider, but rather with your ISP. The company which has provided the IP address for your Mail Exchanger is responsible for creating the reverse lookup (PTR) record. In most cases this is your ISP. If you have a co-located or managed server, it would be your data center which setups up this record.

ok, let me get this straight....

he has his own exchange 2003 server and dns is hosted by network solutions.  and we need to go to the isp and tell them to enter a reverse dns lookup for his mail exchanger (that is in network solutions dns) that they are not the start of athority for?
