    error message

    I keep getting the below error returned to me as I try and set up my account. Any one else have this problem before?

     ========

    There has been an error!

    There was a problem sending the verification email. The IP address you gave, 216.119.106.186, did not accept the message.

    You might want to try posting your issue to the support forum.

    Re: error message

    Uhhhh, yeah...  That's what brought me here, too...

    I meet all of the criteria, it's a valid account, etc...

    My log shows:

    2008:08:18-22:33:09 (none) exim[4397]: 2008-08-18 22:33:09 SMTP connection from [64.20.227.131]:4899 (TCP/IP connection count = 3)
    2008:08:18-22:33:09 (none) exim[4011]: 2008-08-18 22:33:09 rejected HELO from mxtb-pws1.mxtoolbox.com [64.20.227.131]:4899: syntactically invalid argument(s): mxtoolbox.com - DIAGNOSTIC TEST - See http://www.mxtoolbox.com/Policy.aspx
    2008:08:18-22:33:09 (none) exim[4011]: 2008-08-18 22:33:09 SMTP connection from mxtb-pws1.mxtoolbox.com [64.20.227.131]:4899 lost

    So...  I suppose I need to reconfigure my firewall's excellent SMTP proxy to allow syntactically invalid arguments from mxtoolbox.com.  No thanks...

    Re: error message

    You are correct that this is invalid according to RFC, but this is a connection you requested. We add a human readable message to our HELO to make it obvious what is going on to any sysadmin. This is to help curb abuse, but it does throw a flag on some SMTP watchdogs. If you would like our service to check on your server, the least you could do is open a hole for it. Our IP range for those services is 64.20.227.128 /28. If you would rather not do this and your SMTP protection blocks our connections, then our services will not work for you.

    Thank you,

    Peter
