Hi,

My firm using Microsoft Exchange and someone from outside the firm has repeatedly had trouble sending e-mails to people in my firm. He said he used your smpt diagnostic and found that our reverse dns check failed, but when I just ran it (from a computer on our network if that matters), everything checked out fine.  What do you think the issue is? Why the difference? If our reverse dns is failing, how do I fix it?

I also have a query re Reverse DNS. I registered with MxToolbox a few days ago during attempts to de-list spam blacklistings. One of the things that was highlighted was the need for Reverse DNS.

Yesterday I got our ISP to add the neccessary PTR Record and I now get a satisfactory Reverse DNS resolution from lookupserver.com - my problem is that MxToolbox is still flags it as a problem.  Is there something else that needs doing or should I just be more patient?

If you email my your IP, I can check your PTR and if they are good look into our tool to determine why it's not reporting good rDNS.

I manually updated your information and now the Reverse DNS field is accurately reflecting that you have corrected your Reverse DNS.
